How do we navigate uncertainty and the feelings of overwhelm that we all experience as creatives?

In this episode of Live Creatively, I’m talking with Laura Frazier, a Northern Colorado based photographer, about how we can navigate the inevitable ups and downs of our creative journeys well. One thing is for sure, we have all faced uncertainties and felt overwhelmed at times. None of us are alone in that.

Laura engages her giftings as a photojournalist of the heart in her work as a lifestyle family photographer. Her love of people draws her to authenticity in all avenues of life, including imagery. Laura uses the art and act of photography to express love for others and honor their stories.

Laura shares about her journey as a creative and how she overcame the uncertainites along the way that threatened to hold her back from pursuing her passion for photography.

Listen in as Laura and I chat about:

  • The importance of being grounded in her true identity
  • How she navigated seasons of intense uncertainty
  • The crippling effects of comparison on her confidence and creativity
  • How she overcame feelings of confusion and overwhelm
  • Why she almost quit and walked away from photography all together
  • How she rebuilt her business from the ground up and what that process looked like for her

It was such a joy to talk with Laura and refreshing to hear her perspective on how we can navigate uncertainty and the feelings of overwhelm that we have all experienced as creatives. I know that you are going to love hearing her story and the all of the encouragement that she has to share.

What does it mean to Laura to Live Creatively?

“Living creatively is allowing myself the freedom to be curious and not put pressure on myself that’s unecessary. But allowing myself to be curious in the meaning of things that are important to me and finding the beauty in the mundane, everyday moments.”
