Girlboss. Love it or hate it, it’s a term we’ve all come to know as female creatives and entrepreneurs.

In this episode of Live Creatively, I’m talking with Amber Zaricor about some of the dangers of the #girlboss culture that has flooded feeds and taken over the entrepreneurial world in the last several years. Yep….we’re going there. We reflected on our own experiences with the toxic girlboss culture and the impact we’ve seen it have on other creatives too.

Amber is the owner of Cooperheart Creative, host of the Small Business Big Heart podcast, and co-founder of the Fill Your Cup Conference + Collective!

Amber is authentic and real about her own experience with the dangers she found on the darkside of the girlboss movement and pushing herself to the point of burnout in her attempts to measure up. Amber shares a powerful personal story about the pivotal moment that changed everything for her one day as she walked around a lake in her home town. I got chills listening to her reflect on that moment and recall how the Lord met her in exhaustion and depletion.

Now, Amber creates from a place of love and overflow with her design agency, her podcast, and the Fill Your Cup Conference! Amber reminds us that our identity is not found in our work and the importance of creating a life we truly love!

Listen in as Amber and I chat about:

  • Amber’s journey with burnout and surrendering her business to the Lord
  • The dangers of the “shoulding” on ourselves and the girlboss movement
  • How to disconnect your identity from your work
  • The story creating the Fill Your Cup Conference and how this has led her to create space for other women
  • Encouragement for creatives who feel exhausted by the girlboss movement and want to create a fulfilling business

What does it mean to Amber to Live Creatively?
